Since 2008 Brussels Gallery Weekend is organising the similarly named 4-day-event Brussels Gallery Weekend, which takes place every September. The Brussels Gallery Weekend is an event that launches the gallery season with a dynamic program of exhibitions, panel discussions and tours of the city’s leading contemporary art galleries and institutional art venues.
Within this event, Brussels Gallery Weekend also organises its own exhibition called Generation Brussels which is about highlighting the Brussels young creation not yet represented by a gallery. Every year, the exhibition is curated by a different young guest curator.
Next to this, Brussels Gallery Weekend organises the Open Doors and the Gallery Walks. The Open Doors is taking place in June and is about giving the public a little hint of what the Gallery Weekend will be like. The Gallery Walks on their turn will guide you through a cluster of galleries within a specific district of Brussels one Saturday afternoon per month. Following these interactive itineraries you’ll discover the exhibitions of the month.
In 2020, Brussels Gallery Weekend created the platform Art Across Europe, which lead to an international cooperation between the different gallery weekends in Europe. The gallery weekends that are being part of this are Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend, Brussels Gallery Weekend, Dusseldorf Cologne, Lisbon Art Weekend, Milano Gallery Weekend, Paris Gallery Weekend and Zurich Art Weekend.
